Pink Vase Sponge

Pink Vase Sponge Info

A Pink Vase Sponge grows on a coral wall at East Chute. A sponge is an animal. It is made of a layer of cells that builds a wall in the shape of a tube or bowl. These cells pump water through the sponge's wall, allowing the sponge to capture microscopic plankton for food. This Pink Vase Sponge was living at a depth of 50 feet. It was 8 inches across.

East Chute is a reef on the north side of Cayman Brac.
